This week’s message addressed the lie that “I can’t help the way I am.” Of course there are some things about ourselves that we cannot change.  But often we excuse bad habits and negative personality traits as being “just the way we are.” God has called us to a lifestyle of transformation and renewal through the power of the cross.

Sometimes we treat our feelings as if they can be trusted.  The truth is, feelings change like the weather. God does not intend for us to journey through life “tossed back and forth by the waves.” Emotions are God-given and have a place, but like any other area of our lives, our emotions need to be surrendered to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
