Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Thursday, February 5th, 2009I spent much of my early life trying to live up to the standards of my earthly father. I rarely was successful at this which often left me feeling defeated, rejected and hopeless. It seemed I could never do enough. In the same way, I believed God’s love and acceptance was based on my performance. If I was doing well, I felt I had God’s approval and could come into His presence. If I stumbled, which I often did, I felt unworthy and would isolate myself from God and others.
I was always trying to earn God’s love but Ephesians 2:4-5 states, Because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.
I found out that even when my life was filled with rebellious and destructive ways, God forgave me, called me and chose me to be His son. God adopted me into His family and loved me in a way I have never known. His love was not and is not based on what I did or did not do but on who He is.
By faith I know I am His child and He delights in me. Nothing can ever separate me from His love. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
